Brand Rankings: #6 Joe Mitchin

Coming in at #6 on the Brand Rankings list is Joe "Chibby", "The Roach", "Joey Phantom", "JPM" Mitchin. This man of many nicknames finds a way to just Roach his way into the top six. If we were looking at a playoff bracket, he would just be alive enough to try to take a shot at it. Unfortunately for Joe, it's not a bracket. This is the end of the road, with a #6 ranking.

Why was Joe ranked where he is? Here are some quotes from our anonymous committee members:

"With two straight years missing the playoffs, "The Roach" has lost it's luster. He was always down, but never out. A slimy, despicable creature willing to do whatever it takes to win, whether that's rigging a draft lottery or coercing others to sign bad trade documents. He's confident, outspoken, and never afraid of picking a fight. It is a persona that served him well for the 14 years that he didn't miss the playoffs. With the start of six team playoffs, it became a difficult position to hold. At this point he's left with three options: step up his game to remain an annual playoff participant, or find a new brand."

“Covering TigerTownship for over a decade, Joe Mitchin has and will continue to be one of the most recognizable brands this league has to offer. From the up close and personal draft day interviews to the even more personal (and a bit uncomfortable) publications of Chibby’s Corner, it’s hard to argue the value he brings to this league. Why 6 then you may ask? Many are asking if this game and this league is starting to pass him by. Does he still have what it takes to put a quality product on the field? Does he still have the same spunk off of the field? The next few years will be very telling where this brand is going. I think we’ve hit rock bottom. How will he respond? I say bring back the #Roach.”

“For Chib, it really comes down to one thing for me: What have you done for me lately? The longevity is there, no question. But I actually think that’s a downfall for him considering his struggles to win titles. This year was a big step back for him - something he admitted himself, which was a little sad. But I still think his snark has its place on the GroupMe and he always seems to be involved in special projects for the league. Overall, his brand feels a bit stale. Hopefully, he can get back “on the right track.”

"When you think of Chibby’s brand, a few things come to mind that ultimately stick, The Front Row Joe era, the fantastic Chibby’s Corner previews and a knowledgeable sports enthusiast. This strong brand is currently at a transitional crossroads searching relentlessly for an identity on the fantasy sports platform. The middle of the pack brand ranking is showing respect for the past while also recognizing the present. Has the game really passed Chibby by? Only time will tell how this reconstruction of his brand will end up."
