Brand Rankings #7: Grant Seanor

Grant Seanor comes in at #7 on the Brand Rankings List.  He is coming off of his third straight semi finals appearance, but according to the Committee, his brand doesn't make the playoffs.

Why was Grant ranked where he is? Here are some quotes from our anonymous committee members:

"There’s a fine line between confident and cocky, and the Seanor party has flirted with it for over a decade. His in your face style has long been a topic of discussion. Some wonder if he crosses the line from time to time. Others embrace the challenge of taking down the junkyard bully. Like it or not, it works and he’ll be to sure to tell you about it. Grant may not be the villain everyone wants, but he’s the villain the TTFFL needs."

"This is one where my individual rankings broke from the group, and I think the Committee got it wrong. I think Grant has done a great job branding himself as a villain. As difficult as it can be to pull off for a genuinely likeable guy, when it comes to fantasy football, Grant is an asshole. Last year's attempts to manipulate Team Rax were a great representation of Grant's head games. While he ended up losing the 3rd place game to the co-owned team, the drama built through a year full of verbal assaults made for a great story. Over the last three seasons Grant has played better than anyone else in the league without a title, and the loud mouth, brash tactics of one of the League's greatest personalities have been able to come to center stage. Unfortunately, the committee didn't end up seeing it this way."

“People liked Wolf of Wall Street’s Jordan Belfort because of his assets and flare, not his actual being. That alone makes his persona an interesting one to try to duplicate. Yet, here we are with Grant Seanor. The bullyball tactics, much like his regular-season success, have gotten pretty stale over the years, making Grant a prime candidate for a rebrand attempt. I highly doubt we’ll ever see that, though, considering his strong comfortability within his own skin - something I definitely envy. He owns who he is, and there’s a certain respect aspect to that. Lots of bark with Grant ... but how much bite? Don’t ask the boys in Vegas to answer that question. Go Broncos.”

"The Western Jesus. Grant has a very distinct brand, anyone can spot it a mile away, part heel, part frat and a full dose of confidence. The Seanor brand to some may be viewed as an acquired taste and some could question the mountain time zone as being a detriment to trade discussions with majority of league on EST. The shredding pow pow in the winter months is as consistently on brand for Grant as anything else in the TTFFL. The #7 overall rankings is perhaps way too low within this TTFFL ranking but as mentioned, the acquired taste aspect for the Seanor antics could’ve been a factor. A solid contributor when discussing rule changes, league formats and a consistent performance in the TTFFL make for possibly the biggest snub the Brand Rankings will see."
